Kennels
This is my new kennel that I built in the spring of 2011. I wish I had done it years ago.
I used to keep my dogs on the ground and my pens would turn into mud holes in the winter time and after a rain. This makes it alot easier to feed and care for my dogs. I can see their waste which makes it easier for me to see worms or other problems they might have. It also helps in controlling fleas, ticks, and flies.
The kennel is 24' x 20'. I used 6' x 10' chain link panels to make 6 pens that are 5' x 10' and 1 pen that is 10' x 10' with a 4' walkway down the middle.
I've made a few additions since I took the picture. I now have a gate on each end of the walkway. That lets me use the 4' wide area down the middle to let the dogs out while I clean their pen or if I'm going hunting or whatever, I can use that area to hold them until I'm ready to load em up. I've added gravel down the front and also built a small shed to cover my pressure washer since the picture was taken. I've also built another pen in front in case a dog gets out, etc. In the walkway I installed some metal shelves and a metal cabinet that I use to store collars, feed pans, etc.

Here are a few pictures during the construction.
I attached vinyl gutter to the slab to wash the waste into.
This runs into a 55 gallon drum that I buried that works similar to a septic system on a house. The solids will fall to the bottom and breakdown and the liquid will go out of a line that runs into the woods near my house. So far its working great.
